Do you have a new RV, and are ready to head out for wilderness? There are many great adventures ahead of you.
You bought an RV because you wanted the basic comforts and conveniences. Some upgrades that make your adventures even more enjoyable, and make it possible for you to stay on the road longer.
Diesel Heater
Keeping your RV warm during the coldest nights is a real benefit when you are out camping. Diesel heaters are safer than propane heaters, produce less carbon dioxide and are more fuel efficient than propane heaters.
If you are considering adding a diesel heater to your RV, consider Eberspacher diesel heaters as they are well-known and respected in the industry.
Fire Extinguisher
Having a working fire extinguisher and fire blanket is a must for every RV. The possibility of an electrical short or other spark igniting a fire in or around your RV is too great for you to take a chance and not have an extinguisher available.
You should carry one with you, and learn how and when to use it.
First Aid Kit
Accidents happen when you’re camping. Poison ivy, bee stings and snake bites, all require different treatments. Then you have the normal cuts, scrapes and abrasions that come with spending time outdoors. Ensure you have the proper first aid essentials available.
If anyone in your family or party has any special medical needs, you need to be prepared for that as well.
Outdoor Furniture
You aren’t going to spend all of your time in the RV. You want a selection of outdoor tables and chairs, to provide a place to sit and enjoy the outdoors.
You will be using these a lot. Packing them up, taking them to happy hours and BBQs with your fellow campers, so make sure you get something light and packable, as well as comfortable.
Headlamp
When you’re out at night exploring around your campground, a headlight comes in handy. They are inexpensive and are indispensable when you are trying to make your way back from a visit to friends in the evening.
They are also great for night fishing.
Hand Held UHF
Whether you want to stay in touch with your party on the ground or communicate while you are driving a UHF radio is a great addition to your RV. Your kids can roam, and you still have a way to reach them in an emergency or to let them know lunch is ready.
Camping Maps & Guides
There are several excellent map books and camping guides available to help you find the perfect campground. Camps 11 Book and Hema Maps come highly recommended.
There is also an app for your phone, WikiCamps, which allows you to find Caravan Parks, Campgrounds, Water, Dump Points, Information Centres and other places of interest.
You and your caravanning partners can get together and plan your trip.
If you decide to visit a National Park, then you can purchase your park passes ahead of time. This also ensures that when you get there, they will have space for you.
